Follow the 3 & 3 Rule for an Evolving Business Blueprint

My advice to all business owners is this: follow the 3&3 Rule; always know your top 3 objectives for the 3 months ahead.

I know, picking only three seems difficult, but it actually makes it so much easier to focus.  When deciding, pick the three that you believe will have the most benefit when accomplished (ROI) and keep them at the top of your list every day.  If you do this, you won’t need an “action plan” per se, but you want to do one thing on each objective each day.  As soon as you complete one, add another.

At the end of three months, see where you are on all three objectives.  Likely, you’ve been able to accomplish all three.  If one is big, like writing a book, and it’s not complete, take a look at how far you’ve come.  Have you been writing every day?  If so, pause and congratulate yourself on how far you’ve come instead of only seeing that there’s a lot left to do.  Notice your accomplishment, then move forward.

The reason 3 and 3 works so well is because it’s a long enough time to build a new habit (like writing every day) but not so long that you can lose your way and feel like you’ve wasted an eternity.  Even if you’ve gotten sidetracked, you’ll have time to regroup and continue without any major gaps.

By breaking it down into three objectives and only giving yourself ONE task per objective per day, you’ll have an evolving blueprint for your life and your business.  If you need help getting started, I’m just a phone call away!
